What is your minimum booking?
For an initial booking, the minimum is 10 hours of lessons. This time commitment will ensure that you make good progress in your mastery of the Mandarin language. However we will only ask you to commit to this after the first 1 hour session so that you are comfortable that you will be receiving good value for money.
What is the format of the initial lesson?
The first part of the initial 1 hour session is used to understand your objective in learning Chinese. As an example, you need to let us know whether you would like to focus on the spoken language only or to do this in conjunction with learning Mandarin characters also. Note that for home / office visits this initial meeting will always take place in a public location. This is for the safety of the client and trainer. If either has concerns then alternatives can then be discussed. (See next point also).
What if I am not satisfied with the trainer?
If you have any concerns about the trainer assigned we will discuss this with you and as required we will allocate a different trainer. We know that you expect to be receiving excellent value for money and we will ensure that this is the case.
What is your recommended session duration?
We recommend a minimum of two 45 minute lessons. This gives sufficient time in one session to cover material to enable significant progress to be made. This also reduces travel time for the trainers and helps keeps cost down. Online sessions can be delivered in 45 minute units. For non-online lessons, a session of less than 90 minutes can be delivered on an exceptional basis. However if this were requested repeatedly then we would look to agree with the client additional charges to cover increased travel costs.
When is payment due?
Payment shall be made at least 72 hours in advance of the commencement of paid lessons. No lesson will be provided without payment in advance and Mandarin London reserves the right to re-schedule any lesson where payment is not made within this timeframe. These terms may be varied for business clients with prior agreement.
What is your cancellation policy?
Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the start time will be charged at full price. We would additionally request that wherever possible any cancellations be made at least 72 hours in advance.
Are there additional charges for travel costs and time?
There are no additional charges for any travel costs within London travel zones 1 – 3 where the total return journey time is less than 90 minutes. If the travel requirement exceeds these parameters we will agree with the client an additional fee to cover the corresponding costs. An alternative in this case is to arrange to meet in a central London location.
What if I am not near a tube or rail station?
In most cases then the trainer can then drive to your location. However the expectation would be that in this case a free parking space would be available.
Do you charge VAT?
No, there is no extra VAT on our prices.
